Yes. Fonts, headings, images, tables, headers and footers, page breaks and numbering all come across as written. We have fonts that match Calibri, Cambria, Arial and Times New Roman in size, so lines break where they did in Word.

With 'Fit everything on one page wide' switched on, which is the default, the table's columns are made narrower together until the whole table fits inside the page. Every column stays visible. Turn it off and the table behaves as it does in Word: anything past the right margin is cut off.

A similar font is used instead, so the text still appears, but lines can break in slightly different places. We have matching fonts for Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New, so documents that use those keep their line breaks.

Yes, for .docx and .odt files: A4, Letter, Legal or A3, portrait or landscape, and four margin widths. Leave page size and orientation on Auto to keep whatever the document already used. Older .doc, .rtf and .txt files convert with their own page setup.

No. A document that needs a password to open cannot be converted, and the conversion stops with a message saying the file may be password-protected or damaged. Remove the password in Word first, then upload it again.

Leave "Fit everything on one page wide" switched on. Every column is scaled to fit across the page, and a short sheet ends up on a single page. A long sheet carries on down further pages instead of shrinking its text until everything fits on one.

Not with the default settings for .xlsx, .xlsm and .ods files: "Fit everything on one page wide" puts every column across the page and lets rows carry on down as many pages as they need. Older .xls files and .csv files convert with their own page setup, so a very wide sheet can still spill onto extra pages. Saving it as .xlsx first avoids that.

No. Only the width is fitted. Rows carry on over more pages, so the text stays the size you set instead of shrinking until it can't be read.

Yes, for .xlsx, .xlsm and .ods files. Choose Landscape and, if you like, a paper size (A4, Letter, Legal or A3) and one of four margin widths. Landscape with fit-to-width is the usual answer for a wide sheet. Auto keeps the workbook's own setting.

Every visible sheet is converted, in order, into the one PDF. Hidden sheets are left out, just as they would be when printing from Excel.

The PDF shows the results, the values the cells display, not the formulas behind them, just as a printout would. A PDF cannot hold working formulas, so keep the spreadsheet if you need to change the numbers later.

.xlsx, .xls, .xlsm, .csv and .ods.

One slide per page. With page size and orientation left on Auto, the default, each page keeps the presentation's own slide size, so 16:9 stays 16:9. Pick a paper size such as A4 instead and each slide is scaled to fit that sheet and centred, still as sharp, selectable content.

Images, shapes and charts come across as they appear on the slide, and text stays real, selectable text. A font the converter does not have is replaced by the closest match, so a slide set in an unusual typeface can look slightly different.

No. A PDF can't play them. Each slide appears in its final state, the same as in a printed deck.

No. The PDF contains the slides themselves, which is what a handout or an emailed deck needs.

Not with this tool, which always gives each slide its own page. If you need a handout with several slides per sheet, use your presentation app's own print-to-PDF handout layout.

.pptx, .ppt and .odp.

Choose your .odt file, change the paper size, orientation or margins if you want something other than the document's own, and press Create PDF. The PDF is made on our server, so there is nothing to install.

Yes. Fonts, tables, headers and page breaks come across as they are in the document.

Usually. Fonts are embedded in the PDF, so it looks the same on every device. If your document uses a font our converter does not have, a close substitute is used; for Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri and Cambria that substitute has the same letter widths, so lines still break in the same places.

Yes. Paper can be A4, Letter, Legal or A3, in portrait or landscape, with wide, normal, narrow or no margins. Leave the defaults and the document keeps the page setup it was written with.

It keeps the width it was given in the document. Tables made in LibreOffice or OpenOffice normally fit the text area and come across unchanged; if one was set wider than the page, choose landscape or narrower margins to give it room.

JPG, PNG and WebP.

Not directly. HEIC is not accepted, only JPG, PNG and WebP. If a photo is refused as HEIC, save or export it as JPG first. On an iPhone, Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible makes the camera save new photos as JPG.

Yes. Open the page in your phone's browser and pick the photos from your gallery or files. A photo the phone recorded as taken sideways is turned upright automatically, using the orientation the camera saved with it.

A4 portrait unless you change it. You can pick A4, A3, A5 or Letter in either orientation, or "Match the image" to give each page the shape of its own picture. "Fit the whole image" keeps its proportions with a margin around it; "Fill the page" stretches it across the page, which changes its proportions if the shapes differ.

No. Every image keeps its original pixel size. JPG and PNG files are placed in the PDF exactly as they are. A WebP, or a phone photo that has to be turned upright, is re-saved first as a high-quality JPG, or as a PNG if it has transparency, which is not a visible change.

Not from this tool, because the PDF contains pictures of words. Use Image to Text or OCR PDF to get the text.

Choose your .csv or .tsv file and press Create PDF. The delimiter is detected for you, and the data is laid out as a table with a header row, gridlines and shaded alternate rows, in landscape on A4 by default. Each of those can be changed before you convert.

Yes. The delimiter is found automatically, whether it is a comma, semicolon, tab or pipe. The result screen tells you which one was used, and you can change it if the guess was wrong.

No. Each column gets the width its contents need. If the table is still wider than the page, the widest columns are made narrower first and their text wraps onto more lines. Short values like dates and IDs stay whole, and nothing is cut off.

Yes, on every page, so a long table is still easy to read after page one.

Yes. Paper can be A4, Letter, Legal or A3, in landscape or portrait, with narrow, normal or wide margins, and the text size can be set from 5 to 16 points. The header row styling, the row shading and the gridlines can each be switched off.

Your file is probably not saved as UTF-8. The converter reads UTF-8 and UTF-16, but CSV files from older versions of Excel are often saved in a Windows encoding, and their accented letters turn into the wrong characters. Save the file again as "CSV UTF-8" and convert that copy.

They work. A quoted field can contain the delimiter, quote marks and line breaks. An address written on two lines stays on two lines inside its cell.

There is no row limit as such, but the finished PDF can have up to 200 pages. For a very long file, a smaller text size or A3 paper fits more rows on each page.

.csv and .tsv.

Choose your .txt file and press Create PDF. By default the text is set in a monospace font at 10 points on A4, with long lines wrapped, so it looks the way it does in a plain-text editor. You can change the font, size, paper, orientation and margins first.

Yes. A monospace font is the default, and tabs keep their full width instead of shrinking to one space, so a log file or a fixed-width report stays lined up.

They wrap onto the next line by default, breaking at a space where there is one and mid-word only when a single word is itself wider than the page. You can switch wrapping off if you would rather they were cut at the margin.

Yes. Choose a monospace, sans-serif or serif font, a size from 6 to 20 points, and narrow, normal or wide margins on A4, Letter, Legal or A3. Line numbers can be switched on, which helps when you are sharing code or a log.

Yes. Bangla text is shown in a Bengali font, and English words, numbers and punctuation in the same line use a Latin font, so mixed text comes out correctly instead of as empty boxes.

Yes. The font is chosen from the characters in your file. Hindi, Arabic and Thai are laid out correctly, and Cyrillic, Greek, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Korean display properly. One limit: in a file that mixes two of Bangla, Hindi, Arabic and Thai, only one of them comes out correctly.

No. A .md file is converted as plain text, exactly as it is written, so its # and * marks appear on the page rather than being turned into headings and bold text.

.txt, .md and .log. UTF-8, UTF-16 and files with a byte-order mark are all read correctly.

Paste the page's address, or upload the .html file, and press Create PDF. We open the page in a real web browser and save it as a PDF with its styles, images and web fonts. You can choose the paper size, orientation, margins and the screen width it is laid out at.

Yes. We open the page in a real web browser, so its layout, fonts and images come out as they look on screen.

It shouldn't. Browsers usually leave out background colours and images when printing, but this tool keeps them by default. For a printer-friendly version, switch 'Keep background colours and images' off.

Yes. Switch on 'One long page' and the whole web page becomes a single PDF page as tall as it needs, with no page breaks cutting through it. Leave it off to split the page onto sheets of A4, Letter, Legal, A3 or A5.

Yes. Links stay clickable, and the text stays selectable and searchable, because the page is printed as real text rather than captured as a picture.

Usually because the page loads them only as you scroll. The converter waits for the page to finish loading but does not scroll it, so images that wait for scrolling may never appear. Scrolling to the bottom in your own browser, saving the page, and uploading the .html or a .zip of it often solves this.

No. The page is fetched by our server, which has no access to your session or cookies. Save the page from your browser and upload the .html file, or a .zip of it, instead.

A web address, a single .html file, a .zip containing the page with its CSS and images, or HTML pasted straight in.

Private and local addresses, such as localhost, are blocked for safety. Only http and https addresses are accepted.

Upload the .zip and press Convert archive. Every file inside that can be turned into pages is converted, and by default they are merged into one PDF in name order. You can ask for a separate PDF for each file instead, returned in a new .zip.

You choose. One merged PDF is the default. Choose 'a PDF for each file' to get them separately in a new .zip.

By name, with numbers in number order, so page2 comes before page10. You can sort by the date in the archive instead.

Yes. Files in folders at any depth are converted, sorted by their full path so each folder's files stay together. System files such as __MACOSX, .DS_Store and Thumbs.db are ignored.

The rest still convert. Every file that was left out is listed by name on the result screen, with the reason.

.docx, .doc, .rtf, .odt, .xlsx, .xls, .ods, .pptx, .ppt, .odp, JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and TIFF images, .txt, .csv, .md and any PDFs already inside. Up to 100 files per archive.

The upload can be up to 80 MB and hold up to 100 files, and its contents may unpack to 250 MB in total, with no single file over 100 MB. The finished PDF can have up to 200 pages.

No. Unzip it first, then zip it again without a password.

Choose your PDF and the PDF/A version; PDF/A-2b is selected for you. The file is checked first and every change it needs is listed in plain words. After converting, the result is validated against the version you chose, and the download appears only if it passes.

PDF/A is the kind of PDF made for keeping documents readable for decades. Everything needed to show the file, such as its fonts and colour profiles, is stored inside it, and anything that depends on outside software or the internet, such as scripts, links to outside files or encryption, is not allowed.

The one the archive, court or office receiving the file asks for. If nobody has said, keep PDF/A-2b, the default. Choose PDF/A-1b only when a system asks for it, 2u or 3u when the text must be reliably searchable and copyable, and 3b or 3u when files attached to the PDF must be kept, because the other versions remove attachments.

Every converted file is checked against the rules of the version you chose before the download button appears. If it doesn't pass, you get no file, and we explain why. We never label a file as PDF/A without checking it.

Yes. When a file only needs small fixes, such as a colour profile, archive information or removing scripts, those are fixed and the pages are not touched. When pages have to be rebuilt, for example to embed missing fonts, the text and the look of sample pages are compared before and after, and the result screen tells you what was found.

Links and bookmarks are kept. Comments are kept and given a fixed appearance so they print. Form fields stay fillable when the file can be fixed in place; when the pages have to be rebuilt they are flattened, which keeps what was typed in them but makes them no longer editable. The check before converting tells you which will happen.

Yes, but any change to a signed file breaks its signature, and PDF/A conversion is a change. The signature is removed and its visible stamp is kept, so the new file never shows a signature as valid when it is not. Keep your original as the signed record, or sign the PDF/A copy again with Digital Signature.

No. A scan keeps its image quality and becomes PDF/A as it is; no text recognition is added, so nothing is guessed. If the scan already has a searchable text layer, that layer is kept. To make a scan searchable first, run it through OCR PDF and then convert the result.

Not in one step, because this tool only takes PDFs. Turn the document into a PDF first with Word to PDF or Image to PDF, then bring that PDF here.

The file is converted on our server and kept only while you work: it is deleted about 30 minutes after upload, or straight away when you leave the page or start again. A password-protected PDF has to be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.

Upload the PDF and download the .docx that comes back. Each page keeps its size and orientation, with its text, tables and images placed where they were on the page. The file opens in Microsoft Word and other apps that read .docx files.

Yes. It is real Word text you can retype and restyle, with bold, italic, sizes and colours kept. Each block of text sits in a frame at the position it had on the page instead of flowing like a typed document, so the layout matches the PDF, but a block that grows does not push the text below it down.

Most of the page does: text with its fonts, sizes and colours, tables drawn with lines, and logos, images and other artwork, each in its place. What is lost is links, text set at an angle, and a picture or background that covers more than half the page. Word may substitute its own copy of a font, so a line can be slightly condensed to stay on one line.

It converts them, but a scanned page comes into Word as a picture of the page, so it looks exactly like the original but its words cannot be edited. The result screen tells you when this has happened. To work with the words, use OCR PDF to edit the page directly, or PDF to Text to copy the recognised text out.

Yes. Pick the PDF from your phone's files in the browser and download the .docx. The conversion runs on our server; to edit the result on the phone you need an app that opens Word files.

Not while the password is on, because a locked file cannot be opened for conversion. If you know the password, remove it with Unlock PDF first, then convert the unlocked copy.

Up to 200 pages and 80 MB. A conversion also has to finish within about a minute, so a very long or unusually complex document can time out. If that happens, split it with Split PDF and convert the parts.

Upload the PDF and download the .xlsx that comes back. Each page becomes its own worksheet, with the page's tables and text set out in cells in the same arrangement as on the page.

Tables drawn with lines come out best: each ruled cell becomes a cell, with the original column widths, merged cells and borders. On a page with no drawn lines, the columns are worked out from where the text sits, which suits simple lists but is a best guess.

Not straight away. Every cell comes in as text, numbers included, so SUM and other formulas skip them until they are converted. Select the column and use Excel's Convert to Number option, or Text to Columns, to turn them into real numbers.

Each page of the PDF becomes its own worksheet in the workbook, named "Page 1", "Page 2" and so on.

Photos and other images embedded in the page are placed on the sheet near where they sat. Logos and graphics drawn as shapes rather than stored as images are not carried over.

It converts them, but a scanned page is placed in its worksheet as a picture, so there are no cells to work with. The result screen tells you when this has happened. To get the words and numbers out as text, use PDF to Text, which reads scanned pages with OCR.

Yes. Each page's text is placed on the slide as real text boxes at its original position, in its original size and style, so you can retype, restyle or move it. The picture behind it is the page with its text taken out, so nothing is left showing when you move a box.

Yes, and it is what this tool suits best. Each slide of the PDF becomes a slide again, with its text editable. Animations, transitions and speaker notes were lost when the PDF was made, so they cannot come back.

Not one by one. Everything that is not text, such as photos, logos, charts, lines and backgrounds, is part of a single picture behind the text. You can replace, crop or delete that picture, but not select a shape inside it.

The deck takes the size of the PDF's first page, so a 16:9 PDF gives 16:9 slides and an A4 page gives A4-shaped slides. A PowerPoint file can have only one slide size, so a page with a different shape will not fit its slide exactly.

It keeps everything that isn't text, such as images, logos, shapes and the exact layout, so the slide still looks right. The editable text sits on top of it.

Partly. Every page still becomes a slide, but a scanned page has no text to turn into text boxes, so those slides show only the picture.

Upload the PDF, choose JPG and press Convert to images. A single page comes back as one JPG file. Several pages come back as a ZIP with one JPG per page, named page-001, page-002 and so on.

PNG keeps text edges crisp and loses no detail, which suits documents and diagrams. JPG produces smaller files and suits photographs and scans. Both come out on a white background.

150 dots per inch, which makes an A4 page about 1240 by 1754 pixels. That is sharper than a screen needs and large enough to crop a detail out of, without producing files too big to send.

Yes. A single-page document comes back as one image file. More than one page comes back as a zip with one image per page inside, numbered in order.

Yes. Type the pages you want, using hyphens for runs and commas between pages, as in "1, 4-6". Leave it empty to convert every page.

Not at the moment. Every page is rendered at 150 DPI, which is sharp on any screen and fine for most printing. There is no setting to raise it.

No. This tool draws each whole page as one picture, with its text, images and background together. It does not pull out the original photos embedded in the file as separate images.

Yes. Pages with a real text layer are read exactly; pages without one are recognised with OCR. The two are handled automatically in the same document.

Yes, for pages that already contain text, because the text is read directly. For scanned pages, the text is recognised and may contain mistakes.

No. The text comes out as plain lines, page by page. Tables lose their grid, and on a page laid out in several columns, lines from neighbouring columns can run together. For tables, PDF to Excel keeps the cells.

Pages that already contain text are read in your browser, and the PDF itself is not uploaded. Only scanned pages are sent to our server, as images, so their text can be recognised. They stay on our server only for a short time while they are processed, then they are deleted. We keep a record that the tool was used, but not what is in the file.

Upload the image and the recognised text appears beside it. Copy one image's text, copy the text of every image at once, or download it all as a .txt file.

Yes. Pick the photo from your gallery in the phone's browser. For the best result, hold the phone square to the page, fill the frame with the text and use even light without shadows.

Usually high on clear, well-lit images and lower on small text, photos taken at an angle, and handwriting. Check anything important before you rely on it.

Not reliably. Recognition is built for printed and typed text, and handwriting usually comes out with many errors or not at all. It is not a dependable way to transcribe handwritten notes.

Yes. A screenshot is one of the easiest cases, because the text is sharp, straight and evenly lit, so it usually reads accurately. Upload it as a PNG or JPG.

Open your PDF and you will see every page on one board. Drag a page to where you want it. On a phone, press and hold the page first. You can also select pages, choose Move to… and pick the beginning, the end or a page number. When you are done, press Save changes and download the new file.

Yes. Select the pages first. Click or tap each one, Shift-click for a run of pages, or use Select all, Odd pages or Even pages. Then drag one of them, or use Move to…. They move together and keep their order.

Yes, one page at a time or all the pages you selected. Rotating adds to the way a page is already turned. A copy goes right after its original, with a small label so you can see where it went. A PDF needs at least one page, so you cannot delete the last one.

Yes. You can add blank pages at the start, at the end, or before or after any page. They can match the pages around them, or be A4 or Letter in portrait or landscape. Add PDF puts the pages of another file after the pages you selected, or at the end, and you can drag them where you want. You can add pages from up to five other PDFs.

Press Undo, or Ctrl+Z. You can undo and redo up to 100 steps. Your file does not change until you press Save changes, and the file on your device is never changed.

No. Pages go into the new file as they are. Text can still be selected and searched, and images keep their quality. Links that jump to another page still go to the right page. The document title and author stay the same. Bookmarks are not kept, because they point to the old page order.

You can open a PDF with up to 200 pages and up to 80 MB. After you duplicate pages or add new ones, the new file can have up to 400 pages.

While you arrange the pages, nothing is uploaded. The pages are shown in your browser. When you press Save changes, your file stays on our server only for a short time while it is processed, then it is deleted.

Add two or more PDFs, put them in the order you want, and press Merge PDFs. You get back a single PDF containing every page of every file, in that order. The files you uploaded are not changed.

Yes. The tool runs in your phone's browser on Android or iPhone, so there is nothing to install. Pick the PDFs from your files, set the order with the arrows, and download the merged PDF.

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and images don't change. This also means the merged file is about the size of all the files added together.

Not while the password is on. A protected file is refused with a message saying so. If you know the password, remove it with Unlock PDF first, then merge the unlocked copy.

Not in one step, because Merge always joins whole files. Take the pages you need out of each file with Split PDF first and merge those, or merge everything and then remove the extra pages with Delete Pages.

No. The pages themselves come across exactly, but the bookmark list (the outline shown in a viewer's sidebar) belongs to each original document and is not carried into the merged file.

Choose "Just these pages", type the pages you want, for example 1-3, 7, and press Split PDF. You get one new PDF containing only those pages, in the order they appear in the document, whatever order you typed them in. The original is left as it was.

Hyphens for runs, commas for separate pages: "2-5, 9, 14-18". Pages are numbered from 1.

Splitting produces new files and leaves the original alone. Delete Pages gives you the same document with pages removed. If you want to keep most of the document, Delete Pages is more direct.

That depends on which you asked for. Naming a range gives you a single PDF containing those pages. Splitting every page gives you a zip with one PDF per page inside it, each named after the page it came from.

One range per run: whatever you type becomes a single PDF. To cut a document into, say, pages 1-10 and 11-20 as two files, run it twice, once with each range. "Every page separately" is the mode that returns many files at once.

Yes. The pages are copied as they are. Text stays selectable, images keep their original resolution, and nothing is compressed.

Yes. The turn is saved in the file, so the document opens the right way up in every viewer.

Yes. Name the pages to rotate, or apply the rotation to the whole document.

A quarter turn clockwise, a half turn, or a quarter turn anticlockwise (90, 180 or 270 degrees). A page that was scanned upside down needs the half turn. One that came out on its side needs a quarter turn.

No. The page is turned without being redrawn, so the text stays selectable, nothing is compressed again, and the file size stays about the same.

The rotate button in most viewers only turns your view of the page, not the file, so the next time it opens it is sideways again. Rotating here writes the turn into the PDF itself, so the downloaded copy opens the right way up in any viewer.

Not in one run, because each run applies one turn to the pages you name. Rotate the first group, then upload the result and rotate the next group the other way.

Open your PDF and a frame appears on the page. Drag its corners or edges to the part you want to keep, or type the margins in millimetres or inches. Choose which pages it applies to, press Crop PDF, and download the new file.

Yes. With Same crop for all, one frame is used on all pages, on odd or even pages, or on a list such as 1-3, 8. With Page by page, each page gets its own frame, and pages you do not change stay as they are. Use this crop on all pages copies the current frame to every page. The page thumbnails show the crop each page will get.

It looks at each page on your device and finds everything that is not plain background, then puts the frame around it with the border you choose. It is careful: faint text and page numbers count as content, and a page with a photo, a gradient or mixed colours at its edges is left for you to crop. With Same crop for all, the frame fits the content of every page. You see the result before anything is cropped, and you can change it.

You choose. Same proportions crops the same share of every page, so the same part of each page is kept. Same margins trims the same distance from each edge, which suits scans with an even border. If the margins are too big for a smaller page, they are made smaller to fit, and you are told which pages.

No. Cropping changes the part of the page that PDF viewers and printers show. The content outside it stays in the file, and a PDF editor can show it again. To remove text or images for good, use Redact PDF.

Yes. You draw the frame on the page the way you see it, so a page turned 90 or 180 degrees is cropped where you drew. A page that was already cropped is cropped from what you see now, and its rotation stays the same.

Yes. Nothing on the page is redrawn. Text can still be selected and searched, images keep their quality, and links and form fields still work. Only the part of the page that is shown changes.

While you set the crop, your file stays on your device. When you press Crop PDF, it is sent to our server. Your file stays on our server only for a short time while it is processed, then it is deleted. Files can be up to 80 MB and 200 pages.

Choose Current Page to remove the page you are looking at, or Custom Pages to type the ones you want gone. Confirm, then save and download. The new PDF has those pages removed and everything else unchanged.

Yes. Choose Custom Pages and type a mixed list such as "2-5, 9, 14". You are shown which pages that covers and asked to confirm before they go.

Yes. Nothing is removed from the file until you save, and until then "Restore deleted pages" brings back the pages you just removed.

No. There is no automatic blank-page detection. Find the empty pages in the preview and type their numbers, for example "4, 9, 12", to remove them all in one go.

Usually. The new file is built from the pages you keep, so images and other content used only on the removed pages go with them. Fonts and images shared with the remaining pages stay, so the saving depends on what was on the pages you removed.

The pages themselves do, in the sense that page six becomes page five once a page before it goes. Any page numbers PRINTED onto the pages do not, because those are part of the picture. Use Page Numbers afterwards if the printed sequence needs to match again.

Enter the page number the new page should go before, or press At the start or At the end, choose how many pages to add, and insert them. Then save and download the PDF.

Wherever you want. Enter the page it should go before, from 1 up to one past the last page, so it can go between any two pages, for example a signature sheet after clause four.

Yes, from 1 to 50 at a time. They are all inserted together at the position you chose.

By default they take the size and orientation of the page you are viewing, so in a document where every page is the same size they match all the others. In a mixed document, open a page of the size you want before inserting.

Yes. A blank page is a normal page. Click on it and type.

Usually for printing and for signing. Double-sided documents need a chapter to start on a right-hand page, forms need somewhere to write, and a scanned bundle often needs a divider between two documents that were stapled together.

Choose your PDF, pick where the number goes and how it is written, and download the numbered file. There are six positions, at the top or bottom on the left, centre or right, and four ready-made formats such as "Page 3 of 12", or you can write your own.

Yes, with one switch. The first page gets no number and numbering starts on page two, which is usual for a report or a proposal.

Yes, any number. Useful when the document continues from another volume, or when the front matter was numbered separately.

Here you can leave the first page unnumbered. To number a particular range, such as pages 3 to 20, use Add Header & Footer, which takes a page list like 3-20 and can put the number in any of six places.

Double-sided printing. A number placed left or right swaps to the outer edge on alternate pages, so it never ends up in the binding. Centre positions are unaffected.

Switch on the white backing and it sits on a small opaque pill. You can also change the colour, including to white.

Yes. A sample page shows the number in place and updates as you change the position, format, size and colour, so you can settle the look before your file is processed.

Choose Light. It keeps images at about 300 DPI, which is print quality, so they barely change, and it still makes the file smaller. Text and line art never lose quality at any level, so they stay sharp whichever level you pick.

It depends on what is in the file. A PDF made from photos or scans usually shrinks a lot, because those images can be made smaller. A text-only PDF is already close to its smallest size and may barely change. The result screen shows the size before and after.

They set how far images are scaled down. Light keeps them at about 300 DPI, fit for print. Recommended brings them to about 150 DPI, which is clear on screen and fine on an office printer. Strong goes to about 72 DPI for the smallest file, and photos soften visibly.

There is no target-size setting, so step down the levels: try Recommended, then Strong, and check the new size on the result screen each time. If Strong is still too big, the page count is usually the problem rather than the images. Split the file, or use SmartShrink to fit the content onto fewer pages.

Compression mostly shrinks images. A long document made of text, one that was already optimised, or one full of embedded fonts has little left to remove. When that happens, the result screen says the file was already about as small as it gets.

No. Text in a PDF is not stored as an image, so it stays sharp at any zoom and prints at full quality. Only the photos and scans inside the file are made smaller.

This can happen with files that were already compressed, because the file is rebuilt. The tool tells you when it happens. Keep your original in that case, because it is the better copy.

Yes. Open the page in your phone's browser, pick the PDF from your files, choose a level and download the smaller copy. It works the same way on Android and iPhone, with nothing to install.

Upload the PDF and SmartShrink measures how much of each page is used. "Keep full size" combines mostly-empty pages without shrinking their text, and 2 or 4 pages per sheet places whole pages side by side. You see the new page count before anything is made.

Not on the default setting. 'Lossless' only combines pages whose content fits together at its original size. It finds where the content is on each page, crops to that, and stacks the pieces. The text keeps its size and stays selectable. The Balanced and Maximum settings do shrink content, and each one tells you the exact percentage before you commit.

Because most pages are mostly empty. A page with a heading and three lines uses about 4% of the sheet, so four of those fit on one page with room to spare. Nothing is removed. The same content uses less paper.

Yes. Choose 2 or 4 pages per sheet and every page is placed whole, scaled down to fit its space, in the original order, with nothing cropped. That halves or quarters the page count, which is handy for printing handouts or reading on a large screen.

Because its pages are already full. Slides, scans and image-heavy documents fill the sheet edge to edge, so combining any two would mean shrinking them. The tool tells you this instead of making a poor result.

With "Keep full size", pages that have them are never combined and are copied across untouched. The 2 and 4 pages per sheet layouts place every page, so links, comments and form fields are lost there. Keep the original if you need them.

Compress PDF makes the file smaller in megabytes and leaves every page as it is. SmartShrink reduces the number of pages, which is what matters when you print or read on screen, and then runs a compression pass as well, so the file usually gets smaller too.

Yes. The suggestions all start switched on, and you can switch off any group. The page grid shows which pages would go together, and the total updates as you change your mind.

Usually. Combining pages makes the file bigger at first, so it is compressed at the end, and the result is normally smaller than the original. Both sizes are shown on the result screen, whichever way they went.

SmartShrink works in several steps, so it keeps your file while you use it. The file is deleted as soon as your new PDF is made. If you close the tab part-way through, it is deleted automatically within 30 minutes.

Upload it, choose A4 and Portrait, and leave "Keep proportions" selected. Each Letter page is scaled down slightly to fit the A4 sheet and centred on it, so a thin margin appears at the top and bottom instead of anything being cut off.

Not unless you choose to. With "Keep proportions", the default, the content is scaled evenly to fit the new page and centred, so nothing is distorted or cropped. "Stretch to fill" scales the width and the height separately so the content covers the whole page, which changes its proportions when the two page shapes differ.

No. Resize changes the paper size the pages are set on, not how many megabytes the file takes. To reduce the file size, use Compress PDF.

No. The choice is A4, A3, A5, Letter or Legal, in portrait or landscape, and every page in the document is set to the size you pick. There is no per-page setting.

No. The page content is scaled as it is rather than redrawn as a picture, so text and line art stay sharp and selectable, and images are not re-compressed.

Choose your PDF, type the password that will be needed to open it (at least 4 characters) and type it again to confirm. AES-256 encryption is used by default. If you also want to limit printing, copying or editing, set those permissions and an owner password, then download the protected file.

AES-256, the method the current PDF standard recommends. If the file must open in a reader older than Acrobat 9, you can choose AES-128. We don't offer RC4, an old method that is no longer safe.

Yes, and all of it is free. You can control printing (allowed, draft quality only, or blocked), copying, editing, commenting, form filling, rearranging pages and screen-reader access.

It is a second password that lifts the restrictions for whoever has it. The first password is the one needed to open the file. Set an owner password if you may want to change the restrictions later, and make it different from the open password. If you leave it blank, KovaPDF sets a random owner password that nobody is told, so the restrictions stay in place.

Yes, in current ones. Adobe Acrobat and Reader, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Apple Preview and Foxit all open an AES-256 file once the password is typed. Only readers older than Acrobat 9 need AES-128, which you can choose instead.

Not directly. A PDF that is already encrypted is refused. Remove its protection first with Unlock PDF, then protect it again with the new password.

No, and nobody else can either. We use the password only to protect the file and never store it. If you lose it, the file can't be opened again, so keep it somewhere safe.

No. The restriction is saved in your file correctly, and in Acrobat you'll see Copy and Select All greyed out. But each PDF reader decides whether to follow it. Acrobat, Reader, Foxit and most desktop readers do. Chrome's viewer and text-extraction programs don't. So someone who has the password can still get the text out if they try.

The password. The file is encrypted, and no reader, tool or website can open it without the password. If the document must not reach the wrong person, rely on the password. The printing and copying limits only apply to people who already have it.

Choose the PDF. The tool first checks which kind of lock it has: if it needs a password to open, type that password once; if it only blocks printing, copying or editing, no password is asked for. Then download the unlocked copy, which opens without any password.

It depends on the kind of lock, and we check before asking. If the file needs a password to open, yes. Nobody can get around that. If it opens fine but blocks printing or copying, there is no password to enter and none is asked for.

Yes. The file has restrictions, not a password, so this tool removes them without asking for one.

No. We don't try to guess, crack or get around passwords.

Then the file cannot be opened without it. Try the passwords you usually use, check the email or message the file arrived with, or ask whoever sent it for an unprotected copy. If the PDF opens but only blocks printing or copying, you do not need the password at all.

The pages, their contents, and the document title and author are kept. Form fields and bookmarks are not, because the document has to be rebuilt to remove the protection. If you need those, keep the original too.

Only remove protection from files you own or are otherwise allowed to open. Your file and password are used for the one conversion and deleted immediately afterwards.

Open your PDF, then select text or draw a box over anything that has to go; to catch every place a word appears, search for it and mark the results. Review the list of marks and apply. Everything under the marks is removed from the file, and you download the redacted copy.

Removed. The text under each mark is taken out of the page, including hidden text in a scanned PDF that was run through OCR. Image pixels, shapes, links, comments and form field values under the mark are removed too. The black box only shows where something was. Before you can download the file, we check it again to make sure no text is left under any mark.

Yes. Draw a box over anything on a scanned page and the pixels under it are overwritten in the scan itself. Scanned pages are found and their text is recognised as soon as the file opens, so search finds words on them too. If the scan already has a hidden OCR text layer, the text under your box is removed from that as well.

Yes. Built-in searches find email addresses, phone numbers, card and account numbers, IBANs, dates, ID numbers written like 000-00-0000, and web addresses on every page. The results start ticked, so you untick any you want to keep and mark the rest in one step.

Yes. The boxes can be black, white or grey, and you can print a short label such as REDACTED inside each one. Either way the content underneath is removed; the colour and label only change how the box looks.

Yes. Every mark stays pending until you apply: you can move or resize a box, remove any mark, and undo or redo with Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y. Search results are only suggestions until you tick them and press Mark. Nothing in your file changes until you review the list and apply.

No. What you marked is not in the new file, so nobody can get it back. Keep your original if you might need it. The tool never changes the file on your device.

Only what you tick: document properties (title, author, keywords and the XMP metadata), content that sits outside the visible page, scripts and actions, comments and markup, attached files, bookmarks, and hidden layers. Earlier versions saved inside the file and page thumbnails are always discarded. After applying, the result screen tells you if a word you searched for still appears anywhere, such as another page or the document properties.

Rarely, a page is built in a way the tool can't safely take apart, for example because of an unusual font. So that no marked word can survive, that page is turned into an image with the boxes burnt in, and the result screen says which page it was. The rest of the document keeps its real, searchable text.

Redaction runs on our server, so the file is uploaded. It is kept only while you work, for up to 30 minutes, and it is deleted straight away when you choose "Redact another file" or leave the page. It is never used for anything else. A password-protected PDF has to be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.

Choose the PDF that won't open or shows errors. It is checked, the damaged parts are rebuilt, and the result is checked again. Then you see what was found and download the repaired file. There are no settings to choose.

The common ones: a broken or missing internal index, a file that was cut off during a download or copy, a damaged list of pages, missing pieces at the end of the file, extra data before the start, and page content that is partly damaged. Everything that can still be read is kept.

Then the result says that no major problems were found, and you can keep using your original file. If there are small issues that PDF apps ignore, they are listed, and you can download a rewritten copy if you want one.

You get back every page and all the content that is still in the file. Parts that are missing or destroyed can't be brought back, and nothing is made up to fill the gaps. The result lists the pages that were lost or only partly recovered, so you know what to check.

Before you can download it, the repaired file is opened again with a strict PDF reader, every page is read, and its text is compared with what could still be read from the damaged file. If it doesn't pass, you don't get a file.

Sometimes too little of the file is left, or it isn't a PDF at all, for example a web page saved with a .pdf name. A download that stopped early is a common cause, so try downloading the file again, or ask the sender for a new copy.

Not while it is locked. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first, then repair the unlocked copy.

Yes. The Signature tool lets you draw a signature and place it anywhere on the page. It is a picture of your signature on the page. For a signature backed by a certificate, use Digital Signature.

Yes. On a phone the editor switches to its own layout, with every tool in a bar along the bottom and pinch to zoom, so you can retype text, add a signature and save from the browser without installing an app.

Yes. Changes are written into the file itself with fonts embedded, so the downloaded PDF opens correctly in Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and anywhere else.

Not its form fields, because the editor can't fill those in. You can still complete a form by placing text, and checkmarks from the Shape menu, over the blanks. They are saved as part of the page.

A scanned or photographed page is a picture, so there is no text to click. OCR PDF reads the words in the picture and turns them into lines you can edit. The original page stays underneath.

Accuracy is usually high on clean scans. It drops on low-resolution images, photos, unusual fonts and handwriting. Mistakes can look correct, so check anything that matters, especially numbers.

Not completely. The original font is unknown and a scan has its own texture, so a close look can show which line was edited.

Eight: Bangla, English, Hindi, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic, Chinese and Russian. The language is detected automatically, or you can name it yourself before uploading.

The first 30 scanned pages of a document are recognised in one go, and you are told if there are more; pages after that keep their image without editable text. The document itself can have up to 200 pages and be up to 80 MB.

PDF to Word carries a scanned page across as a picture, so its words cannot be edited in Word. To work with the words, edit them here directly, or use PDF to Text to copy the recognised text out and paste it into your document.

Open your PDF and the tool suggests fields wherever the page has blank lines, boxes, check box squares or empty table cells. Accept the ones you want, add or adjust others by hand, and download. The result is a standard fillable PDF form.

Yes. The fields are standard PDF form fields with their own appearance, so they can be filled in and saved in Adobe Acrobat and Reader, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Foxit and other PDF apps. Required fields, read-only fields and the Tab order go with the file.

It looks for blank lines, empty boxes, check box squares, rows of letter boxes, empty table cells and rows of circles, and names each one from the label beside it. They are shown as suggestions: nothing becomes a field until you accept it, and anything it was not sure about is left unticked.

Text fields, paragraph boxes, check boxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, lists, date fields and signature fields. Any field can be required or read-only, text fields can have a default value or be split into one box per letter, and a date field can insist on a format such as dd/mm/yyyy.

Yes. The scan stays exactly as it is; the lines and boxes are measured on the page image and the labels are read with OCR, then the fields are placed on top of the scan. Faint or skewed scans give fewer suggestions, and you can always place fields by hand.

They open in place and you can move, restyle, rename or delete them. Fields you do not touch are kept exactly as they were, including their values and any calculations they carry.

A copy is a new field with its own name and its own answer. A linked copy has the same name, so whatever is typed in one appears in the other. This is useful for a name that must be repeated on every page.

A signature field marks where a signature goes, and it can be signed in Acrobat and other PDF apps that support signing. Each field can also note which signer should fill it, so the form is ready to be sent for signature later.

It is made for building forms. Preview lets you try the fields the way someone filling them in would, but what you type there is not saved into the PDF. To fill in a form and keep your answers, open it in a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, Chrome or Edge and save it there.

Yes. Default values in Bangla, Hindi, Arabic, Thai, Cyrillic and other scripts are saved with a font that can show them. Chinese, Japanese and Korean default values are left for the PDF reader to draw with its own fonts, because embedding those fonts would add several megabytes to the form. What people type later is drawn by their own PDF reader.

Choose Text or Image, type the words (for example CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT) or pick a PNG or JPG logo, then set the angle, opacity and position. Apply it to every page or a range such as 1, 3-5, and save to download the watermarked PDF.

No. The watermark is added on top of the existing page, and the text and images underneath are not changed or re-compressed.

It sits in the margin, and you set the margin distance, so on a normal document it doesn't. If a page's content runs to the very edge, increase the margin or use a page range that skips that page.

It lifts contrast, clears background speckle and sharpens faint text, which makes a grey or unevenly lit scan easier to read.

Yes. Cleaning up a scan before OCR usually makes the recognised text more accurate.

Both. Upload a scanned PDF and every page is cleaned and returned as a PDF with the same page sizes. Upload a photo or a JPG, PNG or WebP scan and you get a cleaned image back.

Cleaning a page means redrawing it, so text that was selectable becomes part of the picture. The words are still there to read but can no longer be selected or searched, and you are told when that applies to your file. Your original upload is never changed.

It can help, within limits. Sharpen tightens soft edges and extra contrast darkens faint text, which is often enough to make a phone photo readable. It cannot recover detail the camera never captured, and it does not straighten a crooked page or remove shadows.

Switch on "Pure black & white". Every pixel becomes fully black or fully white, which makes printed text crisp and clean to print. For pages with photos or shading, choose Grayscale instead, which drops the colour but keeps every shade of grey.

Each page is redrawn as a 200 DPI image so it can be cleaned, and those images usually take more space than the original scan. If the size matters, run the result through Compress PDF afterwards.

Open your PDF and create your signature: draw it, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of it. Place it on the page and drag it where it belongs, add your initials, name, the date or a tick if the form needs them, and download the signed PDF.

No. Draw your signature with a mouse or finger, type your name and pick a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature on paper. It appears on the page, and you drag it to where it belongs. No account and no certificate are needed.

Yes. Upload the photo and the white paper around the ink is removed automatically, so only the signature itself is placed on the page, and it looks like ink rather than a pasted rectangle. This happens in your browser.

Yes. Initials have their own card: draw, type or upload them, and they are placed smaller than a full signature. Name and Date add your typed name and a date as text. The date is today unless you pick another day, and you can choose how it is written, for example September 22, 2026 or 2026-09-22.

Yes. Text adds any other line you need, such as a job title or a reference number. Check and Cross place a tick or a cross that you can drag onto a box on the form.

Place them once, click them, and press "Copy to all pages" (the button shows how many pages your document has). They are added in the same spot on every page. Pressing it a second time does not add a second copy.

Click it. Drag it to move it, and drag a corner handle to make it larger or smaller. "Remove" takes it off again. Everything stays exactly where you put it when the PDF is saved.

Yes. Pick blue or black under Ink colour before you draw, type or place a name, date or mark. An uploaded photo of your signature keeps its own colour.

As real text, so they stay sharp and can be searched and copied from the saved PDF. Text in a script that the standard PDF font cannot show, such as Arabic, Bengali or Chinese, is saved as an image instead so that it still looks right.

Yes. Word (.docx, .doc), OpenDocument text (.odt) and JPG, PNG or WebP images are turned into a PDF first and then open for signing. What you download is a signed PDF.

Yes. The signing tools sit in a panel at the bottom of the screen that you can fold away. Draw with your finger, then drag the signature into place with your finger too.

For many everyday documents, such as forms, approvals and agreements between people who know each other, it is what people expect. But it can't prove later that nobody changed the document, because it is a picture on the page. For contracts that might be disputed, or official filings that require it, use Digital Signature with a certificate.

Because Sign PDF places a visible signature, which is an image. A signature checker looks for a digital signature made with a certificate. Both are real signatures, but only the digital kind can be checked. Our article "What is a digital signature in a PDF" explains the difference.

Sign PDF puts your signature on the page for people to see, with no certificate needed. Digital Signature uses a certificate (a digital ID file) to lock the document, so any later change shows up and the signer can be identified. Use Sign PDF for everyday signing, and Digital Signature when you must be able to prove the document hasn't changed.

Use Request Signatures. You place the fields each person has to fill in, and each of them gets a private link by email to sign in their browser. You need a free account to send the request; the people signing do not. Sign PDF is for adding your own signature.

No. Your drawn or typed signature exists only in this browser tab while you work. When you save, it is written into your PDF and the working copy is deleted as soon as the file is built.

They are electronic signatures, which many countries accept for many everyday agreements. They are not certificate-based digital signatures. Whether an electronic signature is enough for a particular document depends on the law that applies to it. For documents that need a certificate signature, use Digital Signature.

Yes. With "Sign in order" on, the next person is emailed only after the one before has signed. Switch it off and everyone is emailed at once and can sign in any order.

Open Sent for signature in your account. Each request shows every signer's status (emailed, opened, signed or declined) with the time of each step, and a full timeline of everything that happened.

Send a reminder from the request with one click, or turn on automatic reminders when you send it. You can also copy a signer's link and send it to them yourself, for example in a chat, if an email does not arrive.

A page added to the end of the signed PDF that records how it was signed: the document's fingerprint before signing, and for each signer their name, email, when they opened and signed it, and the IP address and browser they used.

When everyone has signed, the finished file is sealed with a trusted timestamp from an independent timestamp authority. Any change after that shows as a broken seal in a PDF signature checker such as Verify PDF Signature or Adobe Acrobat. The request page also shows the file's SHA-256 fingerprint.

Yes to both. A signer can decline, optionally saying why, and you are told straight away. You can cancel a request that is still waiting, after which its links no longer work.

An optional extra check. If you set one for a signer, they must type it before the document opens. Tell them the code yourself, by phone or message, because it is never emailed with the link.

Yes, after the number of days you choose when sending: 3, 7, 14, 30 or 60, with 14 as the default. After that nobody can open the document from their link, and you send the request again if it is still needed.

Yes. Sending is free with a free account, up to 25 requests in any 24 hours, and signing costs nothing for the people you send to. PDF, Word and image files can be added, up to 15 MB each, with up to 10 documents and 30 MB in one request.

Only to send. The request goes out in your name, so it has to come from a free account with a verified email address. The people you send it to sign without one.

It is kept, because a document waiting for signatures has to be stored until everyone has signed. It stays in your account until you delete the request, which you can do at any time from Sent for signature. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is kept.

Choose your PDF, add your certificate file (.pfx or .p12) and its password, and decide whether the signature should be visible on the page and where. A trusted timestamp is added by default. The signed PDF then shows who signed it, and that it has not changed since, in any PDF reader that checks signatures.

Invisible proof inside the PDF, made with your certificate, that shows two things: who signed it, and that not one character has changed since. If anyone edits the document afterwards, the signature shows as invalid in every PDF reader.

A certificate file, usually ending in .pfx or .p12, and its password. It is issued to you by an employer, a bank, a government office, or a certification authority that sells document-signing certificates. If you were never given one, you probably don't have one. Sign PDF works without it.

Yes. Use Sign PDF to draw, type or upload your signature and place it on the page. That is an electronic signature and is fine for most everyday documents. It can't prove afterwards that the document wasn't changed.

Yes. "Create a free self-signed Digital ID" makes a certificate and a password-protected .pfx file in your browser, and nothing is sent to us. Signatures made with it prove the document has not changed since you signed, but readers show you as an unknown signer, because no certificate authority has confirmed who you are.

Only if your certificate comes from an authority on Adobe's own trust list. That depends on who issued the certificate, not on which website did the signing. With any other certificate, Acrobat shows the signature as valid and the signer as unknown. That is normal and not an error.

An independent time service records when you signed. This keeps the signature checkable after your certificate expires, and proves the signing time did not come from your own computer's clock. Only a fingerprint of the signature is sent to the time service. The document is not sent.

It was expired, not yet valid, cancelled by its issuer, or issued for something other than signing (for example encryption only). The message says which one. A certificate issued by your own company is accepted. Outside checkers may show it as "not trusted", which is normal.

Your .pfx file contains your certificate but not the certificates of the authority that issued it. Export it again, and choose "Include all certificates in the certification path" when saving. Most export dialogs have this option.

No. Both are used once to make this signature and are then discarded. Your private key is never saved anywhere or sent to any other service.

Yes. Each new signature is added without changing what was already signed, so the first signature stays valid when the second person signs. Verify PDF Signature shows every signature separately.

Not directly. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, then sign. Signing an encrypted file correctly needs the password inside the signing step, which this tool does not yet support.

Choose the signed PDF. Every digital signature in it is listed with a coloured verdict saying whether the document has changed since that person signed, along with who the certificate belongs to, who issued it, whether it has been revoked and when it was signed. You can download the result as a PDF report.

What you see is a picture of a signature, drawn, typed, scanned or stamped onto the page. This tool checks for a different kind: a digital signature made with a certificate and stored inside the file. A PDF can show a signature and contain none. Our article "What is a digital signature in a PDF" explains the difference.

We looked for things that look like a signature but are not a digital one: pictures shaped like a signature, hand-drawn marks, stamps, and signature fields that were prepared but never signed. We name the page so you know what we mean. It is only a hint. We can't tell whose signature a picture shows.

It is the short answer. Green means the document is unchanged since that person signed it; if it adds "only permitted additions", someone later filled in a form field or added another signature, which the first signature allows. Amber means the file was changed after signing. Red means the signature is broken, or the certificate used for it has been revoked. The lines below give the detail.

When the file was changed, the result lists each change, for example "Page 1: the page content was changed" or "Page 2: a comment was added". "Compare the changed pages" then shows each of those pages as it was signed and as it is now, side by side. The pictures are drawn in your browser.

Yes, when something was added after a signature. "Download the version that was signed" gives you the file exactly as that person signed it, before any later changes. It is taken from the file you chose, in your browser, and nothing extra is uploaded.

Who the certificate was issued to, who issued it, its serial number, the dates it is valid between, what it may be used for, its SHA-256 fingerprint and the chain of certificates above it. To be sure a certificate belongs to someone, ask them for its fingerprint and compare the two.

Yes. "Download report (PDF)" saves everything on the screen: each signature's result, every check, the changes after signing and the certificate details, with the file's name, size and SHA-256 fingerprint. The report describes what the check found. It is not a signature itself and doesn't certify the document.

It was probably printed to PDF, flattened, re-saved or edited after signing. Those steps rebuild the file and can keep the picture of the signature while removing the digital signature itself. Ask the sender for the original signed file.

It means the document hasn't changed at all since it was signed. This is the most important line in the report.

That the document was changed after it was signed, or the signature itself is damaged. Do not rely on its contents without checking with the sender.

No. It means this checker doesn't recognise who issued the certificate. That is very common for certificates a company gives its own staff. If Signature says Valid, the document hasn't changed since signing. Trust is a separate question about who vouches for the signer.

Whether Adobe Acrobat would show a green tick for this signer. Only Adobe can say that for certain, because it depends on Adobe's own list of approved certificate authorities, so this tool reports it as not verified rather than guessing.

Whether the certificate's issuer has cancelled it, usually because it was lost, stolen or issued by mistake. The check asks the issuer directly. "Not checked" means the certificate names no such service, or it couldn't be reached. It is not a failure.

Something was added to the file after it was signed, for example a comment, a form entry or a later edit. The signed part is still intact, but whatever was added afterwards is not covered by any signature. The list under that signature says what was added, and on which page.

Yes. Any standard PDF digital signature can be checked, whichever program made it. Every signature in the file is listed separately, with who signed and when.

Choose the PDF. Your browser reads it and shows the key points next to the pages: what kind of document it is, how long it is, labelled details such as names, dates and amounts, its sections and its main sentences. A written summary from an AI service then replaces those points when it arrives. You can copy the result or download it as a .txt file.

Three AI-written summaries in any 24 hours, for everyone. Signing in or creating an account does not raise this limit. After the third, the tool still reads your PDF on your device and shows its key facts, but without the written summary.

No. Your browser opens and reads the file on your device. Only the text is sent to an AI service to write the summary. We don't store the text or the summary.

Yes, with one limit. The written summary is based on the first 60,000 characters of text, roughly 10,000 words of English, so on a very long document it covers only that first part. Your browser still reads every page, and when no written summary is available the key points it shows come from the whole document.

In the language the document is written in, so a Bangla document gets a Bangla summary and a French one a French summary. Figures, dates and references are quoted exactly as the document writes them.

No, and it tells you so instead of giving an empty summary. A scan is a picture of words, so there is no text to read. Run it through OCR PDF first to turn the picture into text, then bring the result back here.

Every figure is taken from the document rather than worked out, so a total in the summary is a total that appears in your file. Still, a summary is for reading quickly. Read the full contract before you sign it.

The file is not uploaded. Your browser opens the PDF on your device and reads its text. Only that text is sent to an AI service to write the summary. We don't keep the text or the summary.
